EMMALEE HOLMES-HICKS
Providence, RI
EmmaLee is a classical violinist and fiddle player.
“I grew up on a farm in Illinois, playing for the herd of sheep in the pasture and making music for old-time barn dances. As a shy child, music was an amazing vehicle for expressing myself and I knew from the time I was about 10 years old that that's what I wanted to do for my life. As a musician, I enjoy diving into many different genres of music and collaborating with such a unique group of colleagues in everything from chamber groups to contemporary classical ensembles to contra dance bands to orchestras. I enjoy helping others find their voice through music and I learn so much from teaching all ages in many styles of fiddle music and classical repertoire.”
Our Connection : Emmy and I became friends during our time at Stony Brook University where we were both doing graduate work in violin performance, but we didn’t share the stage until 2018 when I moved to Providence and we collaborated in a concert with local contemporary ensemble, Verdant Vibes.
